Travel Purpose: business

Positive: Kelela was an incredibly friendly and generous host. Chatting with her felt like chatting with an old friend. Liu guesthouse is quite central in Nuku’alofa at a 5 min walk to an ATM or the waterfront, and cafes around the corner. The house had wifi, aircon in the bedroom, and an electric pan, kettle and toaster in the kitchen. She provided drinking water, instant coffee and tea, quick oats, bread and butter. There was hot water in the shower, towels, soap, and shampoo too. Kelela organised an airport transfer, and even offered to drive me around with her kids as we picked up things like groceries, went to breakfast, attended Tongan church, and to get a local meal on Sunday when everything is closed. She made sure to always ask if I wanted to come along as she was on her way out with the kids and made this solo traveller feel very safe and welcome. Her kids were hilarious, and even excitedly presented me with a stray egg they found, laid by one of the wild chickens that you will wake up to the sound of each morning. Thank you, Kelela and family. You made my time in Tongatapu very special!

Negative: The door on the shower was swollen which led to it being difficult to close, but that was so minor as the whole guest house is privately yours!
